Incontestably, the works of the painter Manoel Costa
sustain a harmony that warms even the coldest eyes of
anyone unaware of the quality of his present works,
where the artist mends the ruptures of the past with
the present and sweetens the waters of the sea, bringing
Amazonian igarapés in permanent high tides in the universalization
of his art.
Free of a regional look, where he began his work, Manoel
Costa stigmatizes only man on his canvases: man affected
by the circumstances, exacerbated by the conditions
that his own job offers him - in all, man multiplying
in order to win over life facing natural emulators.
In the conduct of fertile thoughts, the expression of
the senses is the tonic that he has been exhaling since
his first canvases, when he focuses on natures giving
shelter to man. A consent, however, infected with loves
and betrayals, sometimes anomalous, though stripped
of intentions. It is a worldly work, dazzling to the
point of dizziness, a singular work undertaken by a
plural artist.
